It Hurt is a close-up video performance centered on a repetitive gesture performed directly on the body. In the video, a strawberry is repeatedly rubbed against the artist’s chest until the fruit slowly dissolves, leaving stains and traces across the skin. Through repetition, the gesture moves between tenderness and abrasion, care and discomfort. What begins as a gentle act gradually becomes an endurance-based action, transforming the body into a surface where touch accumulates over time. Emerging from the emotional landscape of the Arnavutköy Strawberry project, It Hurt reflects on attachment, loss, and the traces left behind by sustained forms of care. Filmed at an intimate scale, the work approaches pain not as spectacle, but as something that lingers in the body through repetition, memory, and contact.
