Endangered Arnavutköy Strawberry Performance
Coated print, glass framing, video, bra, glass dome
2025
In this durational performance, I carried the seeds of the endangered Arnavutköy strawberry on my body for one month using a wearable terrarium developed through a long process of research, design, and collaboration. Positioned close to my heartbeat, the structure functioned as both a protective environment and a daily commitment to another living form. The performance unfolded through everyday life. Moving through the city, teaching, working, and resting, I continuously adjusted my routines around the needs and fragility of the seeds. Caring for them required ongoing attention and transformed ordinary actions into acts of responsibility and companionship. Alongside the performance, I kept a daily journal that later informed the videos, sculptures, and installations. Although the seeds never sprouted, the experience generated new forms, images, and relationships that continued beyond the duration of the performance.
