Türkçe'de sessiz ve hiçbir kelimenin başlayamayacağı bir harf olan ğ'nin tekrarlayan sesiyle yapılan bir performanstır. Bu eylem, cinsel yönelim veya cinsiyet kimliği nedeniyle Türkiye'de devam eden insan hakları ihlallerine ve eşitlik mücadelesine bir tepkidir. Bu ihlaller, şiddet eylemlerinden, ayrımcı iç hukuktan, keyfi idari tedbirlerden ve devlet görevlilerinin düşmanca yaklaşımlarından oluşmaktadır. Türk alfabesinin dokuzuncu harfinin devamlı tekrarı - bu boğuk ses, performansta yaşadığımız mücadeleyi ve hükümetin sürdürmemizi istediği sessizleştirilmeyi temsil ediyor.
Performans ilk kez 2017 yılında ABDde Şikagoda New Blood Festivalda canlı gerçekleşmiştir. İstanbul Sözleşmesi ve Boğaziçi olaylarından sonra video formunda 2021 yılında bu kez video formunda üretilmiştir.
Ğ is a performance done by the repetitive sound of Ğ, a letter in Turkish that is silent and with which no words can start with. This act is a reaction to human rights violations and the ongoing struggle for equality in Turkey on account of sexual orientation or gender identity. These violations consist of acts of violence, discriminatory domestic laws, arbitrary administrative measures and hostile approach of State officials. Repetition of the ninth letter of the Turkish alphabet Ğ this guttarel sound, represents in this performance our plight and the silence the government would like us to maintain.
The performance took place live for the first time in 2017 at the New Blood Festival in Chicago USA. After the resignation from the Istanbul Convention and Bogazici University protests it was produced in video art form in 2021.
